Im curious as to the values between various figures.
Yeah, some are very rare. Since 2001 they've come out with about 2 or 3 sets per year with about 6-8 regular figures in each set. Most sets also have "chase" figures which are inserted randomly into the boxes. Production on these varies. Even though they have only been produced since 2001 (atleast the NFL line), some of the figures go for several hundred $$.
For example Series 11, which was shipped out in like June or July contained a regular set of 8 of Tiki, Willie Roaf, Big Ben, Brady, Horn, J.Jones, McGahee, Moss. Most of the figures also had variants made (usually the same figure with opposite color jersey). There were also chase inserts of Jason Elam and Alex Smith who were not part of the regular set. Tiki Barber and Tom Brady also had extremely rare 2nd variants made. Tiki's normal variant was a white jersey w/ blue socks. The 2nd variant, or what some people call super chase, was a white jersey w/ red socks. Brady's 2nd variant was his normal variant with no helmet. Some of these no helmet figures apparently have eye black while others don't. I haven't figured out the difference between the 2 price wise. But both Barber and Brady's superchases go for like $170+.
There are currently 12 normal sets out with many different variant figures.
McFarlane also produced "exclusives" that were given out at conventions an whatnot. Each year they also produce Super Bowl exclusives. One year was Seau/Tomlinson ($200+), Carr/George, Leftwich/Taylor...this year's is Barry Sanders.
They also just started an NFL Legends line last year.
Tuff Stuff has a price guide for these...IMO most of the normal figures and normal variants are overvalued; while alot of the "super chases" are undervalued by Tuff Stuff.
Best place to find these has been Ebay for me. Let me know if you guys have any other ??
