Weak QB class for 06?

Postby GreatestShowOnEarth » Sat Jan 28, 2006 3:43 pm

Is it just me or do there seem to be very few reliable fantasy QBs for next year. I was trying to fill out a cheat sheet for an upcoming draft and am having some trouble. There seems to be question marks surronding previous stud QBs (Culpepper, McNabb, Palmer etc.) There seems to be 2 top qbs (Manning and Brady) and after that there is a significant drop off. What are everyone elses feelings on this?

Hmmm I think its going to be hit and miss for QB's. By the time August rolls around we should have a good idea about Palmer's status. Beyond that, every QB seems to have some question marks. Should be interesting.

Yes its a little too early to tell what all is going to shake out but it just surprised me how many "sure things" there are at QB.

Brady in the top 2?

I would be quite confident drafting Peyton, Palmer, Bulger, and Mcnabb.

yes Brady is either the second or third qb depending on the extent of Palmers injury. I sure wouldnt want to use an early pick on a TO less Mcnabb. It seems like every year Bulger is supposed to put up good numbers and every year he disapoints.

Even when TO wasn't there McNabb was putting up decent numbers. 3200 yards, 20 TD, 3-5 rushing TD's, and 10 INT's isn't that bad. That was about his average without Owens. As long as they get a decent WR in there and McNabb doesn't get hurt, he should be a nice pick...not an early one like you said, but better than most QB's.

The reason Bulger disappoints is because his line sucks, and he ends up getting hurt. The WR's always put up big numbers. The only reason to not take him high this year is because of the new coach. We don't know if they'll stay with the same "throw first" philosophy anymore, so his stats may go down further next year. He's probably not worth an early pick either anymore. :,-(

The more you look and think about it, Manning in the late 1st is not a bad pick at all next year since the difference between other QB's should be bigger. Don't forget about Hasselbeck...if teams start focusing on Alexander more it'll give him a better chance to throw to open WR's.

I don't expect Brady to put up the kind of numbers he did this year again in the near future. He only did so this year because their defense couldn't stop anyone for most the year and Dillon was hurt a lot. Even when he played he wasn't at full strength which led them to throw much more than normal. I doubt you will see NE have that weak of a defense (26th in total defense) and mediocre running game (24th in the NFL this year) again for quite a while so expect Brady's numbers to dip a little after this year, so I wouldn't put him as the #2 QB....not on my list he's not.

I would agree that Bradys numbers will dip a little next year but as of RIGHT NOW i have him as my number 2 qb until i hear news about Carsons injury. I have heard it will be career threatening from some sources and that he will be back by training camp from others. I am not sure what to make of his situation quite yet.

I would put Hass ahead of him for next year, along with McNabb and Bulger. So for me....at the very most he is #5 next year.

wow. im not so sure about that.

Bulger has injury issues to say the least. He has missed a total of 10 games in the last 2 seasons. I dont want a starting quarter back that only plays half the season.

Yes McNabb had a good year with TO last year but without TO in 2003 his stats were rather pedestrian. He put up 3216 yards passing had 16 TDs and 11 interceptions. Those numbers do not equate to a early round pick in my opinion.
