Vegas Super Bowl Bet: A Friend Of Mine At Work ...

Postby ScreamingWeasel » Wed Feb 01, 2006 7:30 pm

A good friend of mine at work here in Nashville just happened to be in Vegas this past weekend.

Took advantage of the Sports Palace at, I believe, Caesars, and placed the folowing bets:

(1) $100 Seattle +4 1/2 Pays 3:1
and
(2) $100 Over/Under 44 points - bet "Under" (Under w/ the above also pays 3:1)

Comments?

PS: He says he got an eMail confirmation of his bets on his home computer, and, if he wins, a check will be sent to him. This is news to me. I always thought you couldn't mail winning from Vegas across state lines. Guess things have changed.

He should win at least one of those bets, so he should come out ahead $100.

I'm headed to Vegas this weekend for the big game as well.

First things first, your friend is reading this wrong.

No way he got Seattle at +4.5 AND a 3:1 payout. It's either Seattle +4.5 with about a 1.91:1 (maybe as high as 2:1) payout or Seattle straight up with a 3:1 payout (and really even that is a stretch, it's paying out about 2.5:1).

Similar with the Over/Under....even though it has moved up a bit since then I don't think I've ever seen an Over/Under paying even close to +200 (which would be 3:1).

I think the sports palace is not inside Ceasar Palace.

No way they will be sending winnings over the mail.

i will verify this...

FB...maybe you can verify this...the mailing winnings thing wherever you stay.

i think there is a mistake with the 3:1...that is way off.

the moneyline is at +155 on sportsbook online gaming...meaning...you bet $100 and get paid $155. Odds are 1.55:1 NO SPREAD

I think the sports palace is some hole-in-the-wall betting station. Very likely. Normally place like this will give better odds to attract gamblers. So any reputable place would not do this or mail winnings.

Actually +155 is 2.55:1, because you give $100 and they give you $255 back (including your original 100).

But again, that's moneyline on Seattle without getting any points.

And no I haven't heard of the sportsbooks in any of the hotels paying out winnings through the mail.

That's what I'd always heard.
(Once had 3 friends hit the Canadian Lottery for around $5,000, back in the '80s. Problem was. They had to go to Canada to get it! So they just kept buying tickets until they'd lost it all).

I'm not a big Vegas gambling pro by any means.
Personally, it makes my head spin. LOL.
I think the 3:1 is if he hits both.
You guys probably know more about that than me.

Yeah, that's a parlay. They usually pay out 2.4/1 or 2.5/1, but you have to win both and not push on either.

Bet the Pittsburgh money line.

It's like a printing press for money.
