Why? It was a bit easier back then, and the 72 Dolphins preyed on a really weak schedule. (They flashed the stat during the Colts run, the opposing win % of their schedule was like .350%) The 85 Bears were the closest to going undefeated since them, and were probably a more dominant team, offense and defense. And they obliterated their opponent in the Super Bowl.

Which team had the best record in the league and then had to go on the road in the playoffs? Yes, the Dolphins had to play the AFC Championship game on the ROAD in 72. Has any other great team had to do THAT? I didn't think so. The 85 Bears lost to the Dolphins...ppfffft.

Can't argue here...whether you're a fan of the Dolphins or not, how can the only team that didn't lose a game all year and win the Super Bowl not be the best team by default?

Sure, the '85 Bears kicked butt and the '89 Niners were great (;-D), but perfection is hard to improve on!

I also don't think you automatically put the Dolphins to the top of the pile simply because of going undefeated. It's too hard to make comparison's between generations as the game continues to grow and evolve and manifest itself differently.

Miami would probably get more love if those beligerent old bastards wouldn't celebrate the last undefeated team's losing each year. That's a tired act.

The 1979 Pittsburgh Steelers have the most players (9) in the Hall Of Fame out of all the Super Bowl teams.

I ammend my list and put them at #1.

There is probably going to be (or should be) 8 from the Cowboys of 1995.

QB: Troy (lock for the Hall)

RB: Emmitt (lock)

WR: Irvin (should be a lock. Off field problems getting in the way.)

TE: Novacek (probably wont make the hall but should be considered.)

OL: Allen (lock), Newton (shouldmake it but wont because of off field problems)

DB: Sanders (lock), Woodson (could get in)

All those guys should get in... they all wont for the off field problems this team had...but based on talent and numbers these 8 players should get in the hall.
So they weren't the best...and may have ended the worst. SO WHAT!

Don't forget about DL, Charles Haley who could get in someday.

Will he go in as a Niner or Boy? I think Niner.
