What do Jerome Bettis and Saddam Hussein have in common?

Postby Keyser_WV » Fri Feb 03, 2006 2:59 pm

Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick gave homeboy Jerome Bettis a key to the city this week, reportedly only the fourth time that honor has been bestowed.

The other three recipients? Well, let's see. There was actor James Earl Jones. Detroit neurosurgeon, Dr. Benjamin Carson, of Johns Hopkins University. And ... oh, yeah, somebody named Saddam Hussein, who got one back in 1980, before he seemed to fall out of favor with certain members of the U.S. government. And the U.S. Army for that matter.

I saw this in a Don Banks article on cnnsi.com.

I thought it was funny that Detroit gave Saddam a key to the city .

I heard that when Bettis was told this his reply was "I think they've changed the lock since then."

Pretty good, quick comeback. :-D

it's really just a traditional saying, "who'da thunk". It's been said for quite sometime now.

Anyway, very ironic with the Bettis/Hussein comparison :-)

Geez, this is the 1st I've heard of Saddam having gotten the key to the city of Detroit.Stunning.I still say Ryan Leaf as the overall #2 pick in the draft was a worse selection.
