Arizona may get an "Edge"

Arizona is a potential new home for free agent RB Edgerrin James.
The Cardinals still have last year's second rounder JJ Arrington, but Edge would be a big upgrade. Arrington did not impress in his rookie season. James, 28, is coming off a big year in which he ran for 1506 yards. It looks like the Colts will give their franchise tag to WR Reggie Wayne, making it likely the running back will be available. I would be shocked if this actually happened. AZ is not know for making good FA aquisitions. Usually the dont want to spend the dough.

If they actually acquired a stud RB, it would take some of the coverage off of Boldin and Fitz. They would be solid gold.

Can you imagine Edge, Boldin and Fitz? That's an impressive offense.

What they need to worry about is their O-line. Any back is only as good as the O-line. But Shipp or Arrington behind the Denver or Pitt O-line and they'd be considered better backs then currently percieved.

Do you think they would go RB in the 1st round?

Seems like they should fill other needs and go for a rb through free agency. I think they have quite a bit of cap room.

If I were Green I would want more of a sure thing at RB to start this year.

I think it is more plausible that they go with an offensive lineman or defensive player in the draft and sign a FA RB like Edge than it is that they take another RB this year. I don't think another rookie RB to work on is the solution to their problems, acquiring a back like Edge is a way to get instant results.

Exactly. With the plethora of good o-line prospects in this draft, and the overflow of RB free agents, why not fill both needs by signing a proven talent and drafting a big mean run blocker.

Why is everyone throwing the books at JJ after one lackluster rookie season behind an atrocious line?

Build the line... RB should be among the last of ARI's worries.
