Carolina's Backfield

Postby wbgrafix » Wed Feb 15, 2006 12:39 pm

Suppose Alexander signs back with Seattle. What will the backfield look like in Panther land next year?

Foster already got drafted in my dynasty, but I am thinking of drafting either Goings or even Eric Shelton.

DO any of these guys have any value come next year?

I think DeShaun Foster needs a nickname like Fred Taylor...

how does Dainty DeShaun Foster sound to everyone?

Talk about jumping the gun.

Free Agency hasn't started yet, the draft hasn't started yet, June 1st cuts haven't happened yet...

Here's Eric Shelton's NFL stats: 1 year, 1 IR trip, no games played.

Sounds like a guy you want to put at the top of your list!

that's what happens whe you're in a dynasty. i'm not looking for studs that are gonna produce this year. i already have 4 backs and i'm just looking at what backs to take that might be sleepers for next year and years to come. not just this year.

assuming everything stay stat quo i'd probably say goings will be inline once foster takes his trip to the IR. but that is hard to predict at this point.

Goings is a decent backup to acquire but i wouldnt be surprised if Panthers bring in a free agent RB (Chester Taylor, Jamal Lewis, maybe even go after Edge).

I think Shelton is worth a late round selection.

Carolina spent a 2nd on him and he will get the opportunity to win the job. He had a poor first year but so do a lot of players.

I see no long term value in Goings. Carolina is a contender so I expect them to go after a short term FA solution like James, Lewis or Alexander as long as they don't have to pay too much.

Maybe they draft a RB if White or Maroney falls to them.

Back to Shelton, he is a potential NFL starter so he is worth a deep roster spot.

I think the Panthers will either end up nabbing Maroney with their first pick, or waiting on an Addai or Calhoun in the 2nd. They don't want to spend the dollars on RB and they need to add more durability.

I think you might be the closes on this one Maddog. Carolina will for sure bring in a vet like one these guys to compete with Shelton for the starting role!!!

Davis and Foster are on the outs!!

davis is very close to retirement, and it doesnt look like foster is a reliable option either. i wouldnt be surprised if they let him go through free agency. there are a lot of good free agent running backs this year; they should be able to nab one of them. if not, they will probably draft one in the first or second round.
