i could do that. i always liked that area...but my incarnation of the_dudette wants to go to boston. her dad went to med school at harvard and she wants to do something similar, so...i have a feeling i might be up in the_dude's new neck of the woods in the next few years. we're not married, but...it's only a piece of paper that says we're not at this point.

duder. you have no idea. this is torture. i don't know if you've ever been around the bible belt area. man. excruciating. i don't know how i could even be as liberal as i am with the culture i grew up in. maybe it has something to do with that whole "teenage rebellion" crap people talk about. but, one way or the other, i'm headed to a coastal region, or chicago. that's pretty much what i've narrowed it down to. pac south, pac north west, chicago, or new england. probably new england being as whipped as i am. but that all depends on what she wants to do and where she gets accepted (which won't be a problem, she can pick her institution).

Its been almost 60 here for three days now, after a huge snowstorm on Sunday....

If there was snow with this cold I wouldn't mind, but that never happens. It's too cold for snow :-/

I wonder how many of our southern Cafe-ers know what that means?

I'm one. I live in the south but grew up in the north.

Wednesday - 76 degrees, sunny, tied the record high
Friday - 16 degrees, 3 inches of snow on top of a sheet of ice

Just wondering ... what does it take to keep a car running in this kind of weather?
Do you have to have block heaters? What kind of oil do you use? Do the road crews use lots of salt? How long before your car starts to rust out up there? Does anybody use tire chains anymore?
