Does Ricky's suspension mean TO to the Broncos is a lock?

Postby Free Bagel » Sun Feb 19, 2006 10:56 pm

We've been hearing for a while now that the Broncos would get either TO or Ricky, but not both.

With Ricky now done for the year, does that mean TO to the Broncos is all but a sure-thing?

I think TO could make a sneaky trade target right now in dynasty leagues. I think he walks into a good fantasy situation in Denver and if you can get him before he's actually there while weak passing teams like Miami and Atlanta are still on the radar scaring TO owners you might be able to get him a bit cheaper.

Thoughts?

I don't know if Denver has the cap space to sign TO. IIRC, the Broncos have a pretty bad cap situation this year.

TO and Jake Plummer...man would TO quickly hate that guy. }:-)

I don't know Bagel...personally, I don't think Denver was ever really interested in Ricky. I think Shanahan is way too smart to invest anything in a one strike and you are done kinda guy. I think TO still has a good chance of going to Denver but I don't think Ricky smoking it up has anything to do with it.

I agree. It depends on how they manage their cap.

Well, the other reason that Shanny would go for a top WR over Ricky is that his team needs a top WR (they run well as is)...the cap question is still there though.

I don't think the cap is the issue with TO. Whoever signs him will most likely give him a small contract with incentives. If they don't, they're crazy.

TO can't afford to take a small base. He needs to get paid. This contract will most certainly be his last.

I know that's how TO feels, but at the moment I don't think there's a team in the league that is willing to give him a huge deal. They would be insane to do that before seeing how he is in the locker room with at least a season under his belt.

I agree with Vader.
Plummer is a guy who played very well this past season, but always has a game or 2 with 3 or 4 INTS and a loss on Denvers record. This game came in the AFC championship. TO is all about the big game, and making it to the ship, and I dont know that Plummer is just ready to lead a team there. TO, as you saw in Philly, is quick to critisize his QB for little mistakes. Therefore, I dont think TO should go to Denver, but its not up to me.

I don't think you can put Denver's AFC Champ game loss on Plummer's back like that. I don't think he was the reason that they lost. Plummer had two picks in that game, but they were out-muscled. FWP and Bettis had 15 carries each with Anderson and Bell only getting 9 and 5 carries. When you're getting dominated on the T.O.P. like that (36-24), I think it's pretty tough to put the loss on your QB.
