Weezer is a band I have revisited often since the late 90s. They're one of those type of bands that everyone knows at least one of their songs, but don't know the band. Play Buddy Holly and people will be like "I remember this song! Who is it?" Their songs are so musically diverse that sometimes it's hard to pick a song as them. Play Troublemaker next and people will be like "Ha, that's a cool song. Who is it?" There music is so wide-ranging as well. From love (Island in the Sun, Buddy Holly, I Want You To) to drugs (Hash Pipe, We Are All on Drugs) to partying (Let It All Hang Out) to being yourself (Pork and Beans) to being an a-hole (The Greatest Man That Ever Lived). And that's just listing singles. Anyways, if you couldn't tell, Weezer is one of my all-time favorite bands.
Their singles so far (Love Me Dead, Goodwill Hunting by Myself, Hum Along, Go-Getter Greg) are "hookish", but in very different and good (and often hilarous) ways. But the songs not released as singles are where they shine (Part 1: Broken Bride, The Horror of Our Love, Lake Panchatrain (sp?)) Some of their songs are radio-ready, but not released as singles (Such As it Ends, Topeka...these still have different takes on "commercial" music).
Most of their music can be heard on their website, as well as the videos. Also check out youtube from better quality videos. Love Me Dead was my first exposure to them, and the video is awesome. Also, while on youtube, check out their Ludo Video Things webisodes. Very funny stuff.
Musically, lyrically, and subject wise, they're not like any band I've come across. And that's a good thing in my book. I try to turn them on to everybody I meet. Those who get tired of the rehashed music played over and over on radio should enjoy them.

Singer is a bit annoying, does that squirrel like screech falsetto but the main two tracks aren't that bad. Rest of the album is not great, with some tracks just sucking big time. Check out two cool videos (esp. the Reeling)
edit: feel like I should point out if you don't do the techno thing you probably won't be a fan, but to me that song is incredible. Might travel to chicago to see them New Years Eve.
