This album seriously competes with IV for not only Led Zeppelin's best album, but the best album in general.
"Whole Lotta Love" is the sexiest riff ever. I just want to grind my hips every time I hear it. Pretend you didn't read that.

it defeats IV in my book, but is overshadowed by houses of the holy.
not by much. and if houses of the holy didn't have the crunge, it would be the greatest rock album of all time.

where is that confounded bridge?

It's over there >>>>>>>>>>>> wanna buy it?

Led Zeppelin is one of my favorite topics
I agree about II being one of their best, they really borke out with it.
IV is a rivoting album, I think it's a bit more compelling to listen to because of the lyrics on all the songs kind of mystical.
But really Presence is their master piece. Perfectly produced written and musically executed. It's got more tinty edge to it but the music lyrics and sound quality (remember this was released on vinyl) are all amazing. here are my unchallengable Zeppelin rankings. p.s. the Crunge is awewome. ;-D

Presence
III
II
IV
Houses of the Holy
Coda
Physical Graffiti
I
In through the Out Door.

Did you know Jimmy Page wrote the sound track to Death Wish II?

Presence hater. :,-(

I'm not a Presence hater (I own it, along with the rest), I just can't make a case for it against their other albums. One of them has to be last. And RedskinsWin, that's definitely a unique listing. I would have never guessed their debut would be that low on anybody's list, or Presence would be that high. You must dig cheesy production of their later years over the blues influenced stuff. "Dazed and Confused" beats Presence by itself.

I'm certainly not going to overly critical of any fans of Zeppelin though. ;-D

Led Zeppelin III is probably my favorite. Immigrant Song, Gallows Pole and Tangerine are some of my all time favorites. Love that record.

no love for No Quarter?

it's either my favorite or second favorite Zep song. I never can make up my mind between it and Achilles Last Stand.

It used to be in my top 10 Zeppelin songs when I started listening to them.. but now it's slipped to maybe barely top 30.

I dunno, I can't get enough of the mainstays.. "Stairway to Heaven", "Kashmir", "Black Dog", "Rock and Roll", "Whole Lotta Love", "Heartbreaker", "Dazed and Confused".. roughly in that order.

Just so you don't call me totally vanilla.. I'll throw in "Ramble On" and "Ten Years Gone" as highly underrated gems.

Awesome band live. Seen them a few time at the Ritz in Detroit. Seen Sepultura open for them once, that was an incredible show. Alex Skolnick is an incredibly talented guitarist.

Saw 'em twice in Columbus myself MSB..Kicka** shows both.
