Roger Phillips, of InsideBayArea.com, reports the San Francisco 49ers could release CB Ahmed Plummer. He has played in only nine of 32 games since being signed to a five-year, $25-million contract two years ago by then-general manager Terry Donahue. He is scheduled to earn $5.5 million in salary in 2006. The 49ers would realize a savings of about $1 million against the NFL's salary cap by releasing Plummer.

this is still good info though. Granted he's an injury-prone weanie, but he isn't bad. Wonder who takes a chance on him.

Oh well, no one on the 49ers secondary is really worth a ton of cash...they really don't cover all that well. Still, how much more money do they need to save. Aren't they something like $20 million under the cap right now? :-?
