Jets | Rumor alert: team moving up to No. 1 Sun, 26 Feb 2006 18:53:02 -0800
Vic Carucci, of NFL.com, reports one rumor making the rounds at the NFL Combine was the New York Jets trading with the Houston Texans to acquire the No. 1 pick so they can select a quarterback to replace QB Chad Pennington. As the rumor goes, the Jets supposedly covet former USC QB Matt Leinart.
Hmmm... don't know if this is happening or not, but if it does, I bet it involves Abraham...

Definitely a strong possibility. They rumored to be trying to trade down. Looks like they've finally seen the light.

Despite what you may think, the Jets won't really have any more cap troubles once they are done cutting players. Kendall and Pennington are probably next, that would save us several million.
As for trading up to get Matt Leinart....I think I'd rather move up and get Reggie Bush. I mean I'm sure Leinart will be a good NFL QB, but I'd be pretty mad if we trade up and then dont take one of the best prospects of all time, at a position we need.
yeah this would suck. and then reggie bush would be in our court. but of course, we would probably take vince young, or maybe trade down with someone who wants bush?
I don't think the Jets trade up to #1 to pick Leinart...plus giving up Abraham and the #4 overall pick is way to much just to get the #1 pick IMO if that is what the proposed rumor is??

its not... that was my assumption.
But I disagree. The Jets and Abraham are parting ways anyway. Its the same principle as Edge or SA being offered last season for a 2nd round pick. And besides, look at how much NYG gave up for Eli.
