Isaac Bruce Returns to the Rams

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the St. Louis Rams have reached a new, three-year deal worth $15 million with WR Isaac Bruce. The contract is expected to be finalized as early as Friday, March 10. Bruce will be paid $6 million for the 2006 season. His previous contract, which he was released from, would have paid him $8.1 million in 2006.

All that just to save $2.1 million this year?

They released him before the new CBA was signed. When it was signed, the cap jumped about $10M (I don't know exact amount). If the new CBA hadn't been signed, he probably would not be back with the Rams.

7.5 this year, I think. But yeah... 2.1 pre-CBA was a ton of money for many teams.

Good to see him back in Rams colors, but like the general consensus states, I didn't see this coming... at least for this amount. Sam Madison just got signed for pennies, so did LaRoi Glover ... and the Rams spend 6-mil this year on Bruce? Especially when they have quality backups?

Bizarre, but I guess he is a fan favorite. Sometimes that counts more.

I think it's good that the Rams got him back. Bruce can continue to contribute and mentor guys like Curtis and other younger guys, and Bulger will still have the same sets to look at next year with no new pieces. Now if they can mix Jackson into the mix a little better they can start to win more games again.
