LeCharles Bently (and Kevin Shaffer) to the Browns

Postby bigGAME101 » Sat Mar 11, 2006 2:13 pm

From ESPN.com
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2364025

This was mentioned in the "Bently to Eagles thread", but I thought it could use a thread of its own considering the importance of the signing(s).

Dang... Browns are looking the move out of the cellar in a big way.

Yet another sign of improvement since Crennel and Savage took over.

The crazy thing is, they had 28.5 million to spend, and between Bentley, Shaffer, and JJ, it only takes up around 14.5 per year.

Another 14 to go... I expect a big name D lineman and Linebacker to be signed.

Also a D tackle.

Andruzzi last year, Schaffer and Bentley this year. I don't care who is running the ball, if Cleveland doesn't go RBBC I suspect they'll field a formidable #2 RB for many fantasy teams next year.

Bentley will be moved to guard and will play backup center...not a bad deal. He is from Cleveland so local boy went home.

I posted this in the other thread, but:
G Andruzzi
G Cosey Coleman
C Jeff Faine
G/C LeCharles Bently
T Shaffer
T Ryan Tucker
Forget who their other tackle is (right side), but that looks like one great line in the making. Plus, their team is young on offense overall, making the value of all offensive players that much better.
I can now foresee a run at an impact LB, but almost certainly a DT to boot. At LB Witherspoon would be a tremendous pickup, and apparently they have been interested in acquiring Abraham. ither way, this is a great start to their offseason, not to mention they just signed Jurevicius to be the vet at WR.
