I'm not gonna jump into the middle of the pissing match about danny vs jerry curls.
I really don't see why all you danny haters have a problem with him spending money. It's no your money and he's doing this cause he loves the Washington Redskins and wants to win.

terpfan wrote:Bottom line is this. EVERY team in the NFL COULD do this if they wanted. They just don have the cash to make it happen. All hail the mighty Dan!

That my friend is the most perfect point in this whole thread.

SniperShot wrote:Pretty sure this is official now. Someone please tell me where the Skins get money for this stuff. I'm happy but confused.

They get the money that you don't understand because they deal with this year round. They know exactly what needs to be done and who needs to do what, either restructure or hit the bricks.
flotsamnjetsam wrote:What's scary is how the salary cap doesn't seem to apply to the Redskins. It will only make it even sweeter when they fail to buy a Super Bowl again next year and have to cut half their team.

You know what, pete priscoe said the same BS this offseason. "Redskins will have to start 20 rookies", now who's the idiot?
Besides Joe Gibbs is running the team not the Sny, and I can gurantee you this Joe Gibbs knows how to win.
Besides these guys in the front office know what they're doing, get over it they're a whole lot smarter than anyone on any message board when it comes to handling their players and managing the cap. Now if you want fantasy football advice step up. Leave the real world football to the experts and pros.
HAIL!!!!

I see you mentioned that Al Saunders is great with small WR's and how he led some great passing offenses and offenses in general that ranked #1, yet you left out the best offensive line/best RB at the time Priest Holmes/and a pretty good QB. That helps WR's if you didn't know. ;-D

You also mentioned some WR's that are smaller...Steve Smith and Santana Moss. Those are some exceptions. If you believe Randle El is a shining WR and is worth the 31 million, 11.5 million bonus...then be my guest. I saw him here in Pittsburgh for years and the guy is a bad WR. He had 1...that's right, 1! TD all last season. Not to mention that came in the first game against a terrible Titans D. If he wants to pay that much for a punt returner/gadget play/overrated WR, then he can. Randle El is the next Larry Brown/Dexter Jackson MVP bust the next year.

Lastly, I have nothing against Snyder personally. I hate how he throws money around at so so athletes most of the time but what can I do about it? Nothing.

You're right. Randle El's contract is absurd. It's an obscene amount of money to pay for a "punt returner/gadget play/overrated WR", ok? You know what? Who cares? Not my point.

And I don't think that Randle El is a "shining" WR (which is why I placed him in the #3 slot behind Lloyd). He's the perfect compliment for Saunders' offensive scheme. He's a Dante Hall clone. He's the guy Saunders wanted. And Snyder stroked the check. And the Redskins (if not the rest of the league) will be a better off because of it.

As far as the rest of the Chiefs offense is concerned, good point. We have and have had a tremendous offensive line. And you're right Priest Holmes was a damn good running back. I love him to death and he's probably my favorite player of all time. But, I'll let you in on a dirty little secret that most Chiefs fans already know: Other than his tremendous vision...not that talented. Not overpowering and nothing resembling game breaking speed. Never seen a guy balance monk-like patience and reckless disregard for his personal well being like Priest. But he also happened to be in an offense which was perfectly suited to his skill set. Priest was never the catalyst, just a highly ported and polished part of a well running machine (we saw what could happen with a RB with legitimate first round talent could do in the KC offense last season, and it wasn't Priest). I guess my point is that Portis has quite a bit more natural talent than Priest. I'm really interested in finding out what Saunders can do with him.

By the way, I wasn't specifically directing my post at you JH. Your post just kind of encapsulated what the majority of the Snyder bashers were whining about. No harm intended ;-D

Understood. ;-D

I know the Skins pay a lot for their coaching staff, but they must be making chump change compared to the Skins' capologist. He has to be structuring these contracts brilliantly.

The Skins were on the edge but now, if most of the new pieces fit, they have to be considered big-time players in the title chase.

Now let me say that I actually kind of like Synder, I think the aggresive moves he makes suggests to me that he is a FFer at heart. So I can't hate him.

But I do hate the Skins. Dirty rotten slanderous(against native 'mericans :-b ) organization that should be bannished to the arena leagues. They are way to good at aquiring talent and always seem to beat the stuffing out of any Lions team that faces them. I will always hate their gutz.

:,-( Another Niner gone to the Skins. It's really a sad state of affairs these days in the City by the Bay...no one wants to stay there because they know the team is bad, and the owners won't shell out the cash in order to keep key pieces.

I'm sure the Redskins were willing to pay way more than anyone else, so there wasn't much that could be done there. Their team is going to have a lot of talent going into next year.

The Redskin's go crazy every offseason and overpay for all their players because they have a non-football person, who doesn't know what he is doing, in their front office. The Redskin's are by far the most profitable team in the NFL, so it doesn't matter one iota to the owner how much money is spent trying to win. The Redskin's just go about the entirely wrong way.

Sure, Washington's inevitable salary cap hell/jail never comes, but they don't even get close to the bang for their buck that other well managed teams do.

Do you have a stat that backs up the statement "they are the most profitable team in the NFL?"

And whats wrong with an owner who actually cares about his team rather than raking in the money? Other owners should follow his lead.

1. All teams have THE SAME SALARY CAP. The Skins just know how to use it.
2. The Redskins just drastically improved a team that went 10-6 last year and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. I dont want to here anymore crap about how their plan doesnt work. It is working. And next year they take the next step.

Hopefully thats the last Ill have to say on this issue fo a while. Im sure Im starting to sound like a broken record.

You do realize that Revenue only means how much money they bring in, right? Revenue has nothing to do with how much they spend, and if you sort that list you linked to by Operating Income, which does consider costs, Dallas is the most profitable franchise in the NFL.

The reason I point this out is that you said "most profitable" and profit means the difference between revenue and expense.
