Week 17. Lions @ Steelers. The Steelers, in addition to being the heavy favorites, are in a situation where if they lose they're pretty much out of the playoffs.
First week of the playoffs. Steelers @ Bengals. Must-win for the Steelers, being the playoffs and all.
Kitna threw 24/40 for 197 yards, a TD, and two INTs
Joey threw 17/33 for 212 yards, three TDs, and no INTs.
In both situations, it was a must-win situation for the Steelers. If you ask me, the Bengals have the better offense.
So why are we excited about this Kitna guy, again?

I like Joey more than Kitna too, but please tell me you're not basing this off of one game?
Maybe because the last time Kitna started a season he threw for 3600 yards, 26 tds, and 15 ints? Basing his performance off of one game is ridiculous. I dont know how "excited" you should be, but he's definately a solid player and a better QB than Harrington, at least so far.
Not even comparable. Kitna had been sitting on the bench for months and came in to the game cold.
Not that it matters because you can't just take guys and compare them in one game and draw a conclusion as to who is better based on that game. We could use that same logic to claim that Josh Mccown is better than Peyton Manning.
Mccown vs. SF on 10/02
385yds 2td 0int
Manning vs. SF on 10/09
255yds 1td 2int
So unless you're claiming that Mccown is better than Manning, I'm afraid your arguement doesn't hold much weight.

Wow, I'm suddenly really glad that we signed McCown.
That being said, the Lions playing for nothing but pride shouldn't be able to outdo a playoff team playing to survive by so much.

What he said.
Joey has obviously taken his last snap in a Lions uniform. I think that his comments this week sealed his fate. Joey is an idiot. If he thinks that other teams will be falling all over themselves to sign him up as their starter, I think he's terribly mistaken. I think the only team that Joey had a chance of starting for was Detroit. He blew that chance. Now Detroit has McCown and Kitna fighting for the starting job. I'm not sure if either one of them will end up better than Joey, but they couldn't do much worse.

Kitna- 60% first start of season
Joey- 51% starter for majority of season
I am beginning to think that the Lions signed Kitna and now McCown because Joey told them where to go. I don't think he had any interest in playing for Millen and the rest of the team after being hung out to dry by Bly.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

Haha, that worked out pretty funny. I posted that before I had any idea Mccown was going to Motown.
There is a lot written about why Joey is leaving over on Mlive - Tom Kowalski has been covering the story there. Basically, Joey wants out because he doesnt think he will ever be able to lead this team - and who can argue?
I like Joey and think he can be an average QB in this league. But obviously this is a positive step for Detroit. They bring in 2 guys who can really compliment each other and more importantly have a clean slate on this team. I wish Joey the best of luck, he didnt deserve the majority of the blame that so many people laid on him, but Im a Lions fan first, and Im thrilled by the developments. All I wish for now is for someone to give the Lions a day 2 pick for Joey but if they cant get anything for him then so be it - were still better off with the 2 new guys here.
Dont think this is a question of skill - its a question about leadership and going in a new direction.
