Brooks soon to be a Raider?

Postby Raiderzfan » Sun Mar 19, 2006 8:49 am

Their options dwindling in locating an experienced starting quarterback for 2006, the Oakland Raiders are expected to have serious discussions with recently deposed New Orleans Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks.
Brooks, according to an NFL source, is tentatively scheduled to arrive in Oakland on Monday night and meet with the team Tuesday.

I hope as a Raider fan that he is just holding a spot for one of the young QB's in the draft.

I hope for the Raiders sake that they don't end up starting him.

That would be great news for Moss. Brooks can scramble around enough for Moss to free himself deep and Brooks might hit him a dozen times or so.

Everyone should keep in mind that Joe Horn was able to be a top 5 WR with Aaron Brooks at QB so a talented receiver like Moss should be fine with him at QB.

Oakland is in need of a QB with scrambling ability in order to succeed behind that line. I'm not saying Dante or McNabb ability, just the type of quy who isnt a statue in the pocket. I dont like Brooks at all, but think that he would be an improvement over Collins, and would at least stabilize their offense. He has a good arm and pretty good accuracy, but he lacks leadership skills. I think this team would be better served to get a vet who can help develop a young guy like Andrew Walter; something that Brooks likely will not do. The short term answer would be Brooks, but the long term is not.

Yes I do think Brooks/Moss would be a great combo.

<---Driving the Aaron Brooks bandwagon...Toot, toot! B-)

I thought they might give young Andrew Walter a shot, but Brooks will be starting somewhere next year, so why not Oakland ;-D

Brooks is a pretty good filler until they find themselves a real QB. :-b
