Probably Manning's fault they didn't stop the Steelers on two 4th and inches late in the game too. :-t

I do consider Vinatieri an upgrade.

When he wins an important game, I will stop blaming him.

Was the divisional playoff game an 'important game'?

If Brady would have gotten them down to where they could kick a 46 yard FG and the kicker would have missed it as badly as Vandy missed his, no one would be blaming Brady in the least....I see the other playoff losses Manning has had as completely unrelated to this missed FG. He was definitely in range (80% from 40-50 yds in his career) and just choked. Sure, Manning could have gotten closer but I may have wanted to go for the win too if I had the most accurate kicker in the NFL waiting to tie the game.

we're arguing two different things here...

a) manning is to blame - this IS partly true...they get a 2nd and 2 and instead of getting the 1st down by calling a run play or a short pass play (as he is the OC on the field), he takes two shots downfield. yes 46 yards is techincally "FG range" but if you think it's not a smart idea to get your kicker in the best position available, well...you're wrong.

b) vandy choked - of course he did. that was the worst/funniest kick ive ever seen in a pressure situation or in a regular game.

and vandy is going to dallas so bash him all you want rocket. ;-D

dallas is going to be a FUN team to watch this year: owens, the idiot kicker, parcells.

I think that's exactly the problem. We were talking about how Vandy choked and how Vinatieri is an upgrade but Rockets can't stop himself from bringing Manning back into things. No matter what we are talking about, Rockets just seems to have some very deep hatred for Manning that causes him to speak ill of him whenever it is possible....even when it's illogical to bring him into the discussion. That's what's gotten people upset here....

I'll compromise - they both choked and they are both to blame.

No....there shouldn't even be discussion about Manning at all. That's the point....why would anyone compromise with you about that when you brought up a player that had nothing to do with the discussion at hand? We were discussing 2 kickers.....not 2 kickers and one of the kicker's QBs. Your Manning bashing had no place in this thread.

Well, you put the entire blame on Vandy. Yes, he is partly to blame and I am still not convinced that a 46 yarder is an automatic. I blame Manning as well (and thus brought him into the discussion) because he failed to make the right decision on the field in crunch time (surprise surprise). If I want to partly blame Manning, I am entitled to that opinion.

[quote="RocketsDWMI am still not convinced that a 46 yarder is an automatic.[/quote]

it isnt the distance that portrayed him as a choker; it wasnt even close to going in at any point during the kick.

to me, this is the one positive in an offseason filled with colts' losses.
