Yeah. He embarassed everyone at the strength competition during the pro-bowl festivities. Joey Porter was a distant second. Then again, 34 isn't exactly old in the "real" world, especially when it comes to power lifting. Hell, there are guys in their 40s throwing up a massive amount of weight. Either way, it's impressive. I still think it hurts the Cowboys, as their line wasn't all that good to begin with, now it's Flozell Adams anchoring the line, while Dallas hopes guys like Gurode step up and hold the fort. We'll see what happens.

Anyone else think he would be a great fit in GB? They have a lot of cap space and desperatly need a guard (2, actually), so even short term help would be excellent.
The guy's broken his damn back for us, helped us get three Super Bowls, gone to numerous Pro Bowls, dominates even at the age of 34 ... and BAM! We cut him outright.
My only hope is that we somehow can get him to re-sign. This is horrible. We are rolling in God damned cap space, but Jerry gets cold feet when Larry's roster bonus comes up. This is after he hands 10 million guaranteed to injured underworking 34-year old fatass Marco Rivera the offseason before. Why not cut him? Larry still makes blocks. He still dominates. He still makes annual trips to Honolulu. And we cut him.
I can't say I didn't see this coming. After signing and overpaying that guy from Detroit (Kosier), I knew Larry was next on the chopping block. But I'll be surprised if Kosier is able to fill in 1/1000th as well as Allen.
This sucks. Adios, Larry ... thanks for all the good times. Please sign a one-day when you retire.
IMHO Larry Allen has been living on his reputation for awhile now. He's really a shadow of his former self. But considering the current state of the Cowboy's OL I don't really understand the move.

packers really shouldnt be looking for old players (unless Favre says he would like him or something) id rather them get a younger guard who is maybe a little worse to help more in the future

There really are no other guards that stand out in the Free Agency and the Guard depth in the draft isn't too great either. I wouldn't mind if the Pack decided to pick him up for a few years.
