Dang...that really stinks! I didn't read the article so it may have said this, but I assume it's the same sort of deal that put out Irvin and Sterling Sharpe?

Azumah was a decent player and a heck of a punt returner too...too bad for the Bears. :-/

Wow... thats unexpected. He was a UFA I believe. Would have made a nice player for somebody.

It was his second major neck operation, and he also needed hip surgery. It was basically an accumulation of serious injuries that forced him out after a 7 year career. He was a valuable player, just an unfortunate situation all around.

The Bears weren't going to sign him. But yea, that's really too bad for him, had a solid career ahead of him. Could have been a solid 2/3 CB for most teams in the NFL, and also return punts and kickoffs.

This is something that has been tossed about for awhile here in Chicago. Alot of us thought it was going to be last year, but knew he would be let go or retired this year. He was definitely a nice find after playing RB in school, but the writing was on the wall with all the injuries. Hope he got out early enough that it doesn't have too many lingering effects and he can enjoy the rest of his life in relative comfort.
