Somehow I knew that would end up in this thread. ;-)

Basically I wanted some more feedback on the subject. Of course, I talked extensively with the doctor and will do so with the surgeons as well. I have a friend who had it done and she's very happy with the results. I know there are risks, like with any surgery, but from most people I've heard from, the risks nowadays are slim and none. I've been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 10, so the thought of having perfect/near-perfect eyesight is intriguing. Thanks for everyone's input and I will let you know how it goes.

Omaha - my ex-boss and co-worker both had it done (co-worker at the urging of boss after he had it done) and they both swear by it... Put it this way - my co-worker dropped a couple Gs getting both eyes done despite the fact he had a less than 30% chance of living through the next 3 years due to colon cancer and he says it was worth every penny (he's since passed the "deadline" the doctor gave him for the cancer by a year or so)

Do it.

The whole procedure takes only a few minutes and is virtually painless.*

I'm back. I can still see, however everything looks 'wet' right now. I had the actual surgery Saturday afternoon. I have to do three drops, 4 times a day for a week. I also have to wear these goggles that look like a ski mask to bed for a week (my wife thinks it's sexy). I can't rub my eyes for a month. The actual procedure was terrifying. I won't downplay it. You can actually see them peeling back the part of your eye, then he tells you you're going to lose your sight temporarily. Not fun. They irritated me pretty bad for the first few hours, but after you get into a routine with the drops, it's only minor irritation, like you've got a dry contact in your eye. My vision's supposed to gradually get better, but right now my vision is 20/15 in my right eye and 20/40 in my left. That's with the 'wet' look, so it should improve. Thanks for the support leading up to this. Much appreciated.

Still sounds pretty scary to me...but hey, I guess you're really good in the one eye already which is money. Hopefully that other one will clear up for you soon. ;-D
