and as far as woods goes he really hasn't played much either and has been hurt so untill he gets into camp and fails; I don't understand how he can be a bust.
ah if there was only one way to only have smart people be charger fans.
Its ok they have special buses for people like you

How is he a bust? is he a bust because he didnt fit into the San Fran system? is he a bust because he got hurt? or is he a bust because you don't know %*?
If Johnnie Morton can fit into the SF system, than Rashaun Woods should have been able too.
How about you let the guy get some playing time in a system that he should fit into? If he does suck, then you can say he is a bust.
The suckiness is evident by the fact that he did not receive any playing time. You know what system he fits into? One where lazy WRs get their chances based on what they did in college and where they were drafted. In that world, playing time is rewarded based on expectation of playing time rather than hard work, dedication, and ability. And in that world, Rashaun Woods would fit right in.
Forget that Rashaun Woods now has more WR talent to compete against to get "his chance" at playing time. I'm sure McCardell, Parker, Vince Jackson, etc. are all going to step aside and proclaim how great Woods will be as a starter after all.
If it turns out that you are correct in assuming his future, it's not like the Chargers traded a player that did anything but suck for the Chargers.
Nice backpedal. You didn't trade your trash for anything other than more trash at a different position.
PS- For you thick-headed guys, that Phillip Rivers comment was an attempt at sarcasm.
Regardless, only 1 player can play QB at a time in the NFL, and rarely do backup QBs on a playoff team get any playing time at all during the regular season. WR as a position is the polar opposite to QB, in that as many as 5 WRs can get on the field at a time. 3-4 WRs see the field regularly. What would that make Woods? #5 or #6 on the depth chart on one of the worst offensive teams in the NFL?

Too be honest, I don't know a whole lot about Woods, but from what I've heard about him, it seems as though you are being a little bit too harsh on him. I mean, what is the guy supposed to do when he isn't playing. Just because he isn't playing, doesn't mean he's bad. A lot of players get into the dog pound of a coach for something they did at the beginning of their career, and can't get out.

bad attempt and speaking of thick-headed (and if you don't pick up on why i said that ill explain it to you using small words). did woods have naked time with your girlfriend or something? because i dont see any other reason you would be so offended by him living.
i mean really what the hell did he do to you? in college i only heard good things about him and then he had the bad luck of going to san fran. ooohh he might of been a bad seed there; therefore he is a worthless pile of crap.
what where any of us thinking that may be, just may be he didnt want to be there and he didnt feel like setting forth the best of effort and then he got hurt and put in the doghouse. life is not perfect and yes you should be happy to make the nfl; but we are human and if you don't fit in some place you dont fit in, even if you try to make the best of it.
or may be he is just misunderstood, but that can't be. because he sucks, he is worthless, i and we all hope he never has childern because his family line must be stop, being his football career is an out rage to mankind.
and if you didnt pick up on i dont have to make attempts at sarcasim.

i think you're going to defend Woods by saying that it just wasn't his fault that he didn't get to play, you need to provide some kind of evidence to have any credibility. from how i understand the NFL, the best players rise to the top and play. woods was the WR4 (at best?) on the worst offense in football, and to just come out and say that it was maybe because it was the wrong "system" or he was in the "doghouse" really provides some kind of backup because logic suggests that he was the #4 WR because he was the #4 WR.
im not saying its not possible that these things are true - but you cant bash on people that say woods sucked because they wont give him like the benefit of the doubt.
also, to try and come to his defense by suggesting that maybe he didnt really WANT to work hard isnt really a defense at all - its an endictment of a poor work ethic and i think counters your own argument saying that woods was just a victim of the situation.
BH's comments tend to lean towards the Sarcasm...So take that for what it usually is...short witted verbal jabs. Which i generally enjoy. But he knows Rivers ain't a bust. Or atleast he hasn't proven anything either way star/bust.
________
Geez, Kensat thats a strong statement. You wood thinks Woods slept with your girlfriend or something like that.
Rashaun shouldn't be considered an absolute bust. Or even a partial bust. Woods only has 2 years of NFL experience. The last year on the bench/injury.
Even if he played...what has been going on in San Fran over the last 2 seasons? Jack squat! Two years in a row 4th in the NFC West. Behind Arizona...that is not simple. Its hard to suck as bad as the Niners have lately.
Good probability Woods and Llyod put up better numbers in their new uni's. Both players are associated with/and have better systems and programs as support. My intuition tells me these wrs develop into legit starters. #2 or #3 types.
As for being a possesion wr. I don't really like this label for most almost all wrs. Yeah a few guys can garner a "deep threat-Flyer" or "possesion guy" tag. But cmon. Aren't all wrs possesion guys. Its their jobs to catch the ball all the time. Anywhere-anytime.
Keyshawn can be called a true possesion guy...but who else other than a handfull of others. Anyhoot...
______
Trade Value:
Chargers lose a wr(reche->Patriots) Didn't do much in SD. If anything reche is more a bust that Woods. 4 years under his belt with little to show playing behind/next to... Two primier studs in LT and Gates controlling the offense.
Chargers trade for wr(woods for SDavis- cornerback). Davis is junk*based on actually watching games*. Chargers secondary allowed a ton of points. Pointing all fingers at Davis and company. Remember Chargers run D was top 3 last season. Fortunately Davis and Woods are young enough to possibly be trained into ball players. A low-risk gamble for both teams. Great move.
Personally i'm a Reche fan...but he kept dropping the ball...Brady will be on his ass if he continues that. Reche is a GREAT sleeper pick. Could prove to be a solid #2 fantasy wr.
If Woods puts 700-800 yards and 5-7 TDs... He would be an incredible pick-up with Gates-LT-Keenan ahead of him. Very Respectable numbers with three Very respectable guys ahead of him. If Woods doesn't surpass Reche's pawltry numbers...Then and only then do I start waiving the "Bust-Stick"

By that I mean that he was a first round pick who has grossly under-performed his draft position. Add to that an injury/attitude issues and you have fantasy suckiness. That would lead me so say he sucks.
Going to a better team might help, but they have a raw, unproven QB with other options to throw to, and who doesn't have the strong arm that might favor a speedy, deep threat type WR that Woods was suppose to have been.
Now understand that this is in no way a personal attack on Mr. Woods. I have never met him, nor has my GF or Mother. So for the family members who have joined the Cafe, this has nothing to do with him as a person. Heck I hope he has lots of children......maybe they'll be able to play WR better than their Dad.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

I'll semi buy into the Woods sucking statement...becuz he was a 1st rounder....let me check something.
Actually he was the 7th wr taken at 1.31. Two spots away from the second round. Its not like he was top 10. And we all know most wr picks in the 1st round tend to suck based on history. So there should be no surprise there.
Bust Tag is really starting to lose its steam. But the sucking tag is alive and kicking.
WRs selected ahead of Woods.
1.3 Fitzgerald
1.6 Kellen "KIA" Winslow II(just wanted to add him)
1.7 Roy Williams(Never has had a real qb)
1.9 Reggie Williams(Leftwich has been improving...reggie hasn't)
1.13 Lee Evans...wasted 6th round dynasty pick
1.15 Micheal Clayton ( Incredible Rook season...lost griese as well as his mojo)
1.29 Micheal Jenkins
1.31 Woods not Tiger
WRs Second Round...just to put Rashuan Woods draft position into more perspective.
I could go on with round 3 and 4 but its pathetic.
Maybe Woods should not have been taken in the 1st round. But SF was desperate to fill-in the void left by TO in '04. And they REACHED for a wr in the 1st round.

The guy wasted a valuable 1st round pick that my team could have really benefitted from. It's not that he lacked the talent or that he couldn't translate his game from the college to the NFL. That would have been understandable. It's that the guy was given every opportunity to be a starter for my team, but utterly failed because he is a lazy, unmotivated, entitled, college all-star that thinks things should be handed to him on a silver platter. I have no respect for those kind of players and to me he is a piece of garbage that does not deserve to be playing in the NFL. San Diego will soon see this for themselves if he makes the team as the #5 WR.

Rashaun shouldn't be considered an absolute bust. Or even a partial bust. Woods only has 2 years of NFL experience. The last year on the bench/injury.
This is the uninformed speaking. I'm not trying to be harsh here, but you guys don't know the situation. I live the 49ers, have been a fan of them for my entire life, am a season ticket holder and follow them religiously in the offseason, etc.
No one seems to realize that Woods was in danger of NOT MAKING THE TEAM last year. That's right his ass almost got cut just like Maurice Clarett. That's is the kind of person this guy is, a first round pick that almost gets cut in the offseason following his rookie season under a new coaching regime.
One more time, this is in the offseason before his 2nd year before ANY INJURY was even brought up. Woods barely got on the field at all during his rookie year; one of the worst seasons in 49ers history, when we had one of the worst WR cores in the league, and finished with a 2-14 record.. Chalk that up to Dennis Erickson trying to hang onto his job? OR Rashaun Woods himself? Year 2, Coach Nolan takes over and there should be a clean slate and chance to show what made him deserving of a first round pick right? Wrong. The guy is a bum in training camp, bemoans minor injuries, proceeds to get passed on the depth chart by PJ FLeck and Rasheed Marshall and is in danger of not making the final cut.
Short and simple, the guy is a CHUMP. Not once have I heard a glowing remark about the guy in a follow-up chat session after a practice, not once has his heart and desire been mentioned in a positive light, and not once in his career has he done a damn thing for my favorite team other than be a complete and utter waste of a 1st round draft pick.
So back to the Rashaun Woods story, the guy makes the team last year because he shows a glimmer of hope in his last preseason game before being cut. He makes the final roster. So what happens next? The guy gets a minor injury and complains about it, and his ass gets deactivated for the first 3 games of the season. He barely makes the team, suffers a minor injury in practice and then he's out. After being inactive for 3 games because he is a complete douchebag, he goes on to sustain a season ending injury. Oh well, let's wait until the last preseason game of 2007 to see if he can make the team again.
At least Otis Amey, who didn't have a single catch last year, will play special teams. At least Derrick Hamilton who was drafted in the third round in the same year as Rashaun Woods and doesn't have a single catch in the NFL, has shown heart and determination in trying to succeed. Arnaz Battle worked his ass of as a kick returner to be a starting WR for the 49ers after two hard years and a strong work ethic. When Coach Nolan came on to replace Dennis Erickson, Battle was immediately noticed and promoted while Woods was immediately noticed and demoted.
Even if he played...what has been going on in San Fran over the last 2 seasons? Jack squat! Two years in a row 4th in the NFC West. Behind Arizona...that is not simple. Its hard to suck as bad as the Niners have lately.
All the more reason why Woods is a piece of garbage. First round pick for a struggling franchise that can't even get on the field.
If Woods puts up 700-800 yards and 5-7 TDs as a Charger, then I will become a Raider's fan. Guy is not even gonna see the field and he might not even make the team.

2004 was the strongest WR class in the past decade. Why oh why couldn't Michael Clayton have fallen a couple slots to us?
