Let me first say this: I'm a huge chewer. I play baseball, and it just seems like a given that one has to chew playing baseball. Now, I've seen the ads, and I've decided I am going to try and quit doing this, starting now in the middle of baseball season. Is there anyone out there who else chews, and if so, have you attempted to stop? Also, any good methods to try and do this? If I recall correctly, MSB had a thread like this, but for smoking. Correct me if I'm wrong. But anyways, I've decided to stop, and would appreciate any suggestions you guys have to help. Thanks guys.
I knew some guys who chewed all the time a while ago. One of them eventually stopped, but it took him two or four tries to finally be done with it. Don't get discouraged if you have a relapse or two. Just pick up where you left off and keep going.
Good luck, BoS! Many of us at the Cafe support you 100%
i quit smoking by using dip. now i'm trying to quit dipping. a vicious cycle. i think this is going to be easier cold turkey than cigs would have been. we'll see though.

A lot of the guys I know that quit chewing used pumpkin or sunflower seeds. Some used beef jerky and used that to stuff their cheeks, so the feel was physically still there. Best of luck, and you can do it, just keep at it.

There's a lot of nitrogen cure in beef jerky - that may not be the best thing for your cheek, either. I have no medical information to back that up, but I used to make jerky for a while and I know what goes into it.
I'd stick with sunflower seeds or something like that.
