I'll have to check the list, but Smashing Pumpkins would fall into this category as well. Billy Corgan records everything in the studio, but uses a band on tour.

I don't think that's the case with the Pumpkins. Corgan may do that now as a solo artist, but SP was always James Iha, D'arcy Wretzky, Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin. They recorded in studio as a group and toured as a group.
Where NIN differs is that Reznor typically records as a solo artist but forms a band to tour with. The backing band is relatively constant when NIN tours, but Reznor is solely responsible for the music.
I could have swore I read years ago that he recorded everything himself in the studio. If that's not the case then obviously the Pumpkins belong on the list.
