EWs Top 20 scariest movies ever

Postby mutantseabass » Wed May 10, 2006 4:52 pm

I am a huge horror movie buff. It is by far always been my favorite genre. This list is pretty solid. The Shining is one of my all time favorite movies. When i was a kid i remember my older brother watching The Excorist with his friends and i sat in awe of the movie. What do you think of the list??

Pretty solid list indeed. Jaws is too high, though.. no way it should be above Halloween.

I do agree. But i will say when Jaws came out there were alot of people that were afraid to go in the water. It was well done and very different from what had come out in that time.

I've only seen like... five of those movies.

Of those five, I've got no qualms with the list.

I said qualms.

hmmm. lost highway? david lynch pisses me off. i didn't really find that movie a horror, per se...more of a suspense/thriller/wtf just happened movie. but whatever. and no audition? japanese crazy film. but a pretty good list. i'm not a real horror fan to be honest.

I have to agree with Moonhead about Audition not being on the list. Anyone who has seen that film will understand how absolutely disturbing that movie is. It will leave you in horror for weeks on end.

Here some of my thoughts about this list:

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: My fav horror movie, would have been a mutiny if this film didn't make the cut.

Halloween: Good Stuff.

Seven: I thought these were supposed to be HORROR movies!?!?

Silence of the Lambs: Same as Seven.

Rosemary's Baby: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Nigthmare: No-Brainer.

The Thing: Glad to see this one make the list, underrated horror flick.

Evil Dead: Classic.

Carrie: Another classic.

An American Werewolf in London: Didn't really care for it.

Omen: I still need to see this one, I've heard great things about it from horror fans.

Lost Highway: See Seven, Silence of the Lambs.

-------------------------------

Moon and Duran, I agree Audition was a wicked flick and should replace one of the above 3.

No High Tension??? Blasphemy I tell ya! :-P

I woulda put Scream in here somewhere, it started a whole new genre of crappy horror.

i guess newer movies were not considered. I think that saw should rank before ole jaws.....the horror and twist in that movie is so crazy.
