Because I— I mean, one of the judges was in the audience at the Devany Center in Lincoln, NE in 1988 when Joe Elliott got ALL concerts banned there because he was such an EDIT that they said “never again!”
But that’s just a theory.
I thought the judges were being objective and not taking personal preferences into consideration.
I can think of 100 bands that belong on the list over the Thompson Twins.
Eh, I missed the nomination thread. Too many posts for me to read and I didn't want to tack one in at the end that was a repeat or something and look like a dumbass.
Because I didn't participate in that process, I have no right to complain.
But... if I could, I would.
And who or what is the Thompson Twins?

They were a crappy 80's pop band.
No, not crappy. They were good, and maybe even great. I think they were great. Do they belong on a list of 64 greatest ever? No.
I gave Def Leppard a pretty good vote, let's just say the other 2 judges weren't so kind.
I was shocked to see the Thompson Twins make the list. I gave them a fairly average score thinking the other 2 would slaughter them with low ones. They did not and thus they are in. I'm glad, it's giving the thread life.

(Note the chuckling emoticon) It's just my opinion. The majority of people here would hate Flotsam & Jetsam if they ever heard them. Different strokes...
