If you take Leftwich's first 11 games and extend it over a 16 game season his numbers would have looked like the following...
3088 yds, 24 tds, 7 int
And this is without the games against (becuase he was injured) ARI, SF, CLE, and TEN.. which he could dominate in..
I do think J.Smith will cause some problems, but the talent level is there to step it up this year.. I think the above numbers are realistic for Leftwich this year... a few more INTs, but definitely realistic..
Plus add a few rushing TDs and yards, and you're looking at 3200 yds, 27 TDs, 7 INT. I'll take that for a backup QB! I would count on him as my starter, but I think he has great potential as a backup.
I have serious doubts about Leftwich's rushing ability. He has never been more than a guy that will stand in the pocket and deliver the ball. I put the over-under on Leftwich's rushing TDs this year at 1/2.

I'm willing to bet you $500 on the over for this one. Interested?

Care to back that up with some intelligence?
Anybody see the bowl game where those 2 QB's Leftwich and Garrard played against each other? If not get a tape of it and watch. That will show you who was and is the better QB. BTW Byron and the Thundering herd came back from a 35 point deficent at halftime to win the game after 3 or 4 overtimes. I think the score was 73 to 70. The Marshall D manhandled to Louisville Offense in the second half and Byron and the Marshall offense scored 48 points in 2 quarters!!!!!!
You could think of government workers like teenagers. You pay them an allowance, but do you get any work out them? They eat the food, put their feet on the furniture and complain loudly whenever they are unhappy.

I watched a few Marshall games, but the only one that sticks out to me was when the team had to carry Lefty down the field so he could continue an amazing comeback on one leg. One of the gutsiest performances I have ever seen.
However, it does point out a chink in the armor of Lefty: He needs to wear armor. He has been beset by injuries during his career to date. If he should buck the odds and stay healthy he could be a steal on draft day. Unfortunately my prediction for him comes right from Clubber Lane. "my prediction....Pain"
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

I think Byron will eventually be really good if he can stay healthy. He also needs to learn a little "touch". Has anyone else noticed evem his screens are like 100 mph fastballs???

Jimmy Smith leaving is huge for Leftwich. Jimmy was the bread and butter in the passing game. Remember how the Tennessee O fell apart without Derrick Mason last season? Welcome to the 2006 Jacksonville Jaguar's offense. The impact will be immediate IMO. I would not want Leftwich to be may starting QB in the first half of the season, let alone opening day.
