Bush over-hyped, White Better? The Next Desmond Howard?

Postby Twisted Sister » Fri May 19, 2006 1:41 pm

That's what this guy is saying:

The White being better than Bush is implied by the language bias in the article.

OK, so how many times in one article can he mention that Lendale White scored more TDs than Bush?

And how many times can he make comparisons between players that aren't really comparable. He is making the classic mistake of using statistics to show talent and ability. So much of the stats comes from the situation you are in; the stats become useless.

Is Bush the type of back that linebackers don't want to meet in the hole? No, but all that means is that the coaches have to get creative when designing the playbook.

Also, don't let my homerism get in the way, here. That article is poorly written, uses faulty reasoning, and it pretty difficult to follow (what is with the tangent about Michael Bennett about? and what was the point of mentioning Drew Rosenhaus?).

Bush is NOT too thin. He's 5-11, 200 according to NFL.com and he's strong. Did over 20 reps at the combine. He's going to be special, the only thing thats going to hurt his fantasy value is Deuce McAllister.

which was more reps than FatBoy White did.

I'm not a big fan of either, but I think Bush will be the more successful for the simple fact that he has a work ethic, which Fatboy apparently does not.

I also don't like when they keep talking about the o-line he had in front of him.....it is faulty logic.

1) Didn't White have that same o-line blocking for him?

2) Of course his o-line would be good....he was at USC wasn't he? I hate how they use that as something bad than in the same breath say that "Well Williams is good but he played at Memphis and didn't have the competition that Bush and the others did" So do you want talent around you or don't you? Me confused :-?

3) Desmond Howard was a WR right? How do you compare different positions, let alone different positions from different era's......again, me confused.

4) They said he was second in history on his own team and not even nationally. Well Mr. Roto....if that is your real name.....there are a lot of great backs that would be second at USC.

5) He was taken out on 3rd and shorts....well god forbid you try and save your playmaker from running staight into a DT. Last time I checked ol'fast Wille was taken out on short yardage and could still bust out fiddy on your ass on the next play.

Well that completes my rant for today.....coming later this weekend....why Mr. Roto blows.

Over-hyped? Definitely. But the rest and how he went about making his point, not so good. And what's the point of quoting Pete Prisco? Everyone knows he's usually wrong. Thats like picking on the mentally challenged. :-b

And lest you think I am off my rocker, consider this. Last May, as I started my coverage of the NFL for another web site, I predicted that Peyton Manning would revert to back to the norm, that his 2004 season was an outlier and would doom most teams that drafted him in the first round while all the other sites proclaimed him the best player ever and a must pick first rounde

Fantastic, I said that as well. I guess that means I can now go out on a limb and say Rocky McIntosh is better than Ray Lewis.

i think that bush will be more comfortable coming into his rookie year. With duece perhaps being used how white was used at usc, he will likely be used to playing time/strategy. I could see him doing very well his first year. White is a stud, ill admit that, but i dont really look at those td's. The pac 10 cant play defense for crap. and he was in the most explosive offensive for every year he was in college. Not to hard to throw up tds in an offensive like that
