INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison will have elbow surgery Monday.

The surgery, which will be performed in his hometown of Philadelphia, is for an injury sustained during the 2005 season.

Harrison, who caught 82 passes for 1,146 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2005, left Sunday's final minicamp workout early to catch a flight.

``(The surgery) was planned, but we just couldn't get a late flight to get back him back there in time,'' coach Tony Dungy said. ``But he's doing fine and made it through four practices really well.''

It will be Harrison's second surgery in recent months, after having treatment done on a wrist injury that he had sustained midway through last season.

Harrison isn't expected to be able to participate in Indianapolis' five-week voluntary organized team activity workouts, which are slated to begin Tuesday.

Doesn't sound serious at all. If it was knee/hip/ankle it may be something to worry about, but wrist and elbow stuff sound minor. Does it seem like these guys get surgery for everything nowadays though? I mean, if you hurt your elbow the doc will throw you in a sling and maybe put you in PT, but football players go under the knife like we pop aspirin!

Sounds like some minor work. I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Yeah, I don't think an elbow surgery is going to impede him very much. Leg surgeries are obviously a lot more serious for WR's since they need them to run. It's a long off-season, so I'm sure he'll be ready to go. ;-D
