Going from Redraft league to Keeper????

Postby a4ce » Tue May 23, 2006 3:00 am

A majority of the guys(10/12) in our money league(core been together for just 4 years now) want to have a keeper from last season for this season and beyond. I think that it would be okay(since I would end up keeping SA) but what do we do with the new owners? Do the new guys just inherit the team of the last owner and choose a keeper from there? Just redraft this year and start the keeper next year? Just trying to change it up a little. This season is my turn to be the commish and I don't want to screw it up. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's fairly commonplace for new members to come into a keeper league and "take over" one of the existing teams. They will keep whoever they feel is best from that team and go from there. I really don't think you'll have a problem doing that as long as a majority of the remaining members want to have a keeper league. ;-D

i think since it wasnt declared a keeper from last season, you guys should start with a redraft and make it a keeper from there.

are you only doing 1 keeper?

Dan is on the money here. People would have drafted differently last year knowing they could keep 1 or more player the next year. If you are going to change formats start fresh this year with your draft and declare before the draft how many everyone can keep.

Agree with them ^^^^^^^^^^^

We changed our league the right way and it ahs worked, we had a core group that went from re-draft to keeper. You can not make that decision after a draft has taken place, it has to be before a draft in order for it to work. Of course the guys with LT2 and SA will have no problem with it but what about the other teams that may have drafted different

I agree with the above that is what we did. Also yes they take over the team or compensate them somehow.

Thanks for all the input. I think that we'll start all over this season and make it a keeper from here on out. Too bad for me.

What do you guys think about 1 keeper leagues?

I personally think 2 should be the minimum.

Reason:

I believe the high ranking teams from last season get a drafting advantage because of the round 1 to round 2 turnaround.

Yes the teams with the worst record get first selection. But they lose out on the talent in the early second round. players found in the late second round(technically mid-late third round) isn't as good giving the better teams from the year before an all around better squad after 2 rounds and a single keeper.

Maybe i am over analyzing here. Or maybe the talent in the 2nd round this year aint' so great...

what do you guys think?
