BOTB: The Grateful Dead vs. Deep Purple--Deep Purple Wins!

I just got redirected to this side so I'd figured I'd chime in.
I'm here after the vote deadline but my vote would have been for Deep Purple. I've seen both bands live and both were totally different. I'm more a hard rocker than a tripper. Besides, with a screen name like Fireball how can I not want DP to win this match up. Highway Star live has sooooooo much energy.

Every year I plant Scarlet Bergonias in my yard in memory of a good friend who is now, well, dead. That was his favorite song.

I'd often heard great things about the Dead, so in college, before napster got shut down, with a great dorm connection, they were one of the bands I d/l just about everything I could find from. After trying to listen to the Dead, I'm convinced they're only enjoyable when high. That does not make for good music in my opinion.
