Buster shows graduating pups his nose is never out of joint
A day before 12 dogs graduated from the St. Paul Police Department's canine academy, a veteran pooch showed the young pups how it was done.
Buster, a seven-year member of St. Paul's canine unit, helped sniff out a marijuana-toting criminal who was part of a group cleaning the graduation site Wednesday morning as part of his community service.
A supervisor accompanying the group had been tipped to the marijuana. While the suspect worked the grounds, Buster sniffed through the van in which he had arrived.
Moments later, the crafty canine hit on the scent and barked an alert to his partner, St. Paul officer David Pavlak.
In the suspect's jacket, officers found six small bags of marijuana.
"What are you thinking?" an incredulous Pavlak asked the owner. "You're bringing pot to the police canine facility?"
His response, according to Pavlak: "I was going to smoke it when I was done working."
What a friggin' idiot.
