Cafe Poll: Green Bay starting RB in week 1?

Postby DarkKnight » Wed Jun 07, 2006 2:30 pm

Just read the cafe Poll: who will be the Green Bay starting RB in week 1?

Wanted to know who the Packer's faithful thought?

Personally I think it has to be Gado.. He's gotton all the reps in the mini camps and I seriously doubt Green will be ready to roll in time. Also due to his rust.. I also wonder if now that he's older and with all his injuries.. he is beter suited as a 3rd down change of pace type back.

Hehe.. you'd think this would have a poll attatched :-b

I think it will be Green... though if he somehow isn't ready, it will be Gado.

I would say it can't be anyone but Green (if he is healthy).

sorry not a poll.. thats on the Cafe front page. Just wanted to know what the Packer fans are thinking

Green is coming off a very serious leg injury (ruptured quadriceps tendon).. at the earliest he may be somewhat ready in late august. Green doesn't look like a featured running back to me any more.

I agree, though it saddens me. I expect Gado to start.

I would say Green, but Gado has a fair chance also.

If Green is healthy, I believe that he will start without a doubt in my mind.

my question is why?

I know its not his 3.3 ypc and 0 TDs in 5 starts last year..

compared to Gados 4.1 ypc and 7 TDs in 5 starts

He wasn't healthy last year. Coming in this year, he's fresh, he's relatively young still, and a season before, he was considered one of the top backs in the league. The kid can still ball, and I don't believe in Gado as much as others.

You could be right.. I hope you are and Green can bounce back. The bottomline is the Packers need him.

Still I think we need to be realistic here.. its safe to say he's not healthy and fresh this year either. He's only 29 but that is getting older for an NFL RB and he's probable taken more punishment than the average RB the last few years he played. He was given almost minimum veteran contract by the Packers with a buyout clause if they decide to cut him before the season starts. It sounds like the Packers are hoping for the best too.
