Anyone up for an INDIE BOTB?

Probably not, but does anyone like good, independant music? And yes, Jimmy Buffett may be technically independant but that's not what I'm talking about.

I'd be willing to start up an indie BOTB - but I want to gauge response first. If people would be voting for the band with the coolest name, that'd be dumb, but judging by the ages reported in the age thread, most of you should have been exposed to good music at some point in high school or college.

So yeah, let me know if you'd be down for an all-indie BOTB.

Anyways, its a cool idea, but I don't think it would work.

A lot of people in this current BOTB don't know enough about both bands to make a good vote. People are just choosing bands they;ve heard one song of, and crap like that.

I can't imagine how worse off that would be in an Indie BOTB.

I thought the point of indie bands was that they don't get the exposure/label/contracts/fame that other more well known bands do.

So then, I wonder how one would go about doing a BOTB, presumably based on a democratic voting rule with seeds and whatnot. How do you have a popularity contest for anti-popular bands? It not only seems unfeasible, but even worse, completely unnecessary. Now, if this thread was... "what's the best band that you listen to that no one has heard of," and it carried with it some educational value, then, well, it would be worth doing.

One BOTB, while fun, is almost not worthwhile... 2 seems like major excess.
