Yeah, definitely one of the heaviest, and possibly even most banned, videos in the past few years.

too bad the video blinded people to the fact that the song actually sucks :-b :-b :-b

Pearl Jam had some great stuff early, so I voted for them, but once Eddie Vedder decided to get all artsy, their music started to suck.

Very tough match-up, I really like both, but I have all of the Green Day CDs so I went with them ;-D

Exactly, and that's why I went with Greenday. Pearl Jam was great when they released Ten, but after Vs. they really went downhill.

Wow this really sucks that these got paired up in the first round.

I have to go Pearl Jam but I would've voted Green Day over a lot of other bands in this competition.

Not true, they just fell out of radio airplay and stopped making music videos. Vitalogy is their best album and some of their albums after that were great as well. No Code is highly underrated. Yield is a great album too, and the Todd McFarlane video for "Do the Evolution" kicks arse.

I went with Green Day here.

Again, two bands that I really like, but I went with trajectories. While Pearl Jam's early stuff has withstood the test of time, their trajectory has not been toward producing better albums in my humble opinion.

I know its cool to hate American Idiot because its been over-radio-played, but I love the album and I love the concept of a Punk Rock Opera. Love it or hate it, that album elevated Green Day from a 90s grunge/punk johnny-come-lately to a band that actually has staying power.

Dookie may even be my 3rd or 4th favorite Green Day album. I think Nimrod is their best effort, followed by AI, and I really dug the B-sides album (Shenanigans) they released in the 200-something. Warning was a nice change of pace and showed range, and their early stuff is a bit raw, but great. Insomniac is the only one that's really hit and miss for me, but it has my favorite Green Day of all time on it (Brain Stew).

And when you listen to a Green Day greatest hits album, its clear that are more than 20 great songs.

Plus, they're good live - their 2001 Warped Tour set was the highlight of the entire show for me.

I'm not one to watch music videos, and I could care less abuot airplay. Pearl Jam just didn't have anything good IMO after VS.

Ouch, i hate these close matchups....but at least they are pretty much the same type of music in the same era......so it really is a good matchup in that aspect.....coulda gone either way, JEREMY almost changed my vote, but GD has gotten done it seems like.
