This was the feature display when I went to the Guggenheim last year. No offense to the artist, but I could literally do this work and I couldn't paint my way out of a paper bag.

It must have more to do with who you are than what you do or something. :-?

Yeah, because that is crap. Looks more like home decor than art.

I thought those were color swatches at Home Depot...

Ok, what's worse... being the actual artist or the schmuck standing there for 10 mins conteplating the deep meaning of the work.

so stupid. there's a "painting" an the DIA (detroit institute of Art) that is like an 8'x8' canvas that it says the guy used a push-broom, differnt cans of paint and sawdust on.

so basically this jerkoff dumped a bunch of paint on a sawdust covered canvas and pushed it around with a broom

Brilliant :-t

I rememeber seeing a stupid exhibit at the National Gallery of Art in D.C., it was there for years, not sure if it still is...

It had quite a few paintings like "Blue Dot on White Canvas" which was exactly that... quite lame.

There is a pic in this thread that is ridiculously large. I started to read the first line and when I had to keep scrolling over and over, I gave up. :-/

It's called "Leaf Hands In The Wind" and, yes, it was done by my 6-year old son. He won a contest and has it displayed at a gallery downtown.

I bet if I said it was painted by some dead Italian guy it'd sell for thousands.
