Ravens trade for Colts safety Sapp

NFL.com wire reports

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (June 19, 2006) -- The Baltimore Ravens traded a conditional 2007 draft pick for Indianapolis Colts safety Gerome Sapp.

The Ravens hope the move creates competition at free safety with rookie Dawan Landry.

"It was just an opportunity presented to us that allows us to upgrade our football team," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "He knows the system and he won't be penalized by not being here. He gets a chance to start fresh."

Sapp started twice for the Colts last season, recording 16 tackles and 28 special teams tackles.

Ha, he would be the single NFL cornerback that I could beat deep.

Or he would just maul you at the line of scrimmage and you wouldn't even be able to start your route :-b
