How many teams is TOO many in a fantasy football league?

Could use some opinions. I just made a football league for some friends and the max teams is set at 12. I know that's not too many, but if I have to raise it, when do i start getting into numbers that are just flat out too many teams? THANKS!

12 is the max for me.

I like 8 to 12 teams.

Depends on the type of league and type of owners. I have been in a dynasty league with 16 and I think that is about the max I would participate in. Generally I like either 10 or 12 depending on the group.

I played in a 16 teamer last year. I didn't like it too much, kind of like the 20 team baseball one I'm in this year I've never been in anything else over 12 but I seem to dig 10 and 12.

I think anything over 12 and the talent pool is so diluted that it's no fun anymore.

Depends on starting requirements.

If you start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, 12 teams is a max. Beyond that, the talent pool is way too diluted.

For this year, I'm eying a 8-team re-draft league with QB, QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, RB/WR and TE...

yeah 12 is a good number, anything over that and you start to get the haves and the have-nots.

16 team leagues are my favorite. But they are not for the beginners. If you have a league with friends, it may be more enjoyable if you keep it at 12 or less. One option if you have alot of people who want to get into your league is to have to seperate leagues and have their championship in week 15. Then have both those winners play another one in week 16.

i like 10 to 12 myslef. i played in a 16 teamer last year and it was ok but i tend to stick with the lower numbers.
