I'm waiting until something REALLY good comes out technology-wise. Then I'll invest some $$$ in movies.

Well, film is typically 4000x3000 pixels, as a source...

HD will only be 1920x1080

So, there will be a long wait for TV catch all that film has to offer.

it's most likely just the cover and maybe the disc screen printing. someone who has it could probably give us a definite though.

here are the features on the dp/bc versions

# DVD Features:

* Available Subtitles: English, Spanish, French
* Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround), Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround)
* Commentary by director Rob Reiner
* Commentary by author and screenwriter William Goldman
* "As You Wish: The Story of The Princess Bride" featurette
* "Dread Pirate Roberts: Greatest Legend of the Seven Seas" mockumentary
* Behind the scenes footage shot on the set by Cary Elwes
* "Love is Like a Storybook Story" featurette
* "Miraculous Make-up" featurette
* Original 1987 featurette
* Quotable "Battle of Wits" trivia game
* Photo gallery
* Collective booklet: "Fezzik's Guide to Florin"

normal collectors edition

# DVD Features:

* Available Subtitles: English, Spanish, French
* Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), Spanish (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono)
* Commentary by: director Rob ReinerUnknown Format,author William GoldmanUnknown Format
* Brand-new "As You Wish" documentary featuring all-new interviews with Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn, Billy Crystal, Mandy Patinkin and more
* Exclusive footage shot by Cary Elwes during the making of the movie
* 2 original featurettes

a few of the same things but more stuff on the new ones. i find with special editions, for me atleast, it's just about having the newest version. most of the time i never even watch the extras. if there is a new version released my ocd kicks in and i have to have it. same thing with widescreen.it's pretty much widescreen or i don't buy it unless i really like the movie. most people could care less.

yeah, i here ya. the worst is when it's a directors cut with extra footage or a re-release with DTS (i love me some DTS). i've purposely held off on buying Kill Bill on DVD becasue there's some uber-edition in the works...possibly

DTS ,or Digital Theatre Systems, is surrond sound. pretty much every dvd out today has a dts 5.1 or 6.1 surround sound track on it.

here is the wiki if you care to read that much into it.
