To pick for next year or years to come

I am wondering what draft strategy people use as far as picking for the first year in a dynasty or a keeper league and why? I have come to the conclusion I pick more for the future than most people do and was wondering about the rest of you guys.

i draft on potential and youth. but i won't compromise the first year by doing so. it really just depends on what falls to you.

I generally take who I think will be the most productive over the next 2-3 years and don't worry about after that. If I can get youth without sacrificing much immediate point production, I try to do that, but otherwise I just take whoever will get me the most point production right away unless I think they only have 1 good year left.

Its good to have a nice blend of youth and vets in a dynasty league. But focus your top picks and stud talent like S-Jax, Fitz, Ronnie, Caddy, etc

It all depends on how long you plan to be in the league. If theres a chance the league will break up from lack of interest in the upcoming years, you will draft differently than if you've been in it for the last 10 seasons

I draft to win now. And let's be honest here, most leagues don't last anyway.

I try to get the best players available in the first few rounds. However, I may reach on a young stud who has big-time potential (Read: Reggie Bush.) For the most part, I'm taking the best players now and focusing on youth later on in the draft.

If it's a close decision between two players then it's always good to lean on the younger guy. For example, I would take Lee Evans over Eddie Kennison everytime in a dynasty league.

I try and focus on one or two spots when I draft a dynasty when it comes to youth. Depending on where you pick in the draft and what falls to you. Picking at the end of the first round I would grab 2 young Rbs and grab a young qb in the 4/5 round. Wrs would grab some vets and upside younger guys and look to the draft in the following years to be able to focus on WRs.

it always depends on who falls to you. if tiki falls to you in the 2nd round of a dynasty league, you have to take him. same for ronnie brown or caddy. for me, i just draft for value.

The major league im in i have been in since i was 12 (im now 18.) My dad has been in it since i was 8. So its not a league that is showing any signs of stoping. It is a 2 man keeper so i draft for stength this year at the begining. Then near the end i draft my third and fouth string team mostly young players that i think have a good chance of blowing up that year.
