Maroney fires his agent

They still think he may sign before training camp, but under NFL rules he has to wait 5 days before he can hire another agent. Hmmm, wonder if he will hold out and sign late.

If he does hold out and sign late, that won't be too smart. Cedric Benson lost a lot of carries last year because he did.

I agree that Belicheck will not be happy, but in another sense, it is a business.

Having said that, I don't like that he fired him, the example with Benson says it all. Is it worth getting behind in possibly one of the most complicated offenses in the game? He'll find out, one way or another.

maybe its the other way around? maybe the agent wanted him to holdout and he didnt? im probably missing something but its a possibility.

I don't know why everyone is assuming this means that Maroney wants to hold out. If anything, I think the agent is more likely to be pro-hold-out - the idea that Maroney wants to hold out and he fired his agent because he (the agent) didn't support that seems a little far fetched.

He probably just didn't like how the agent was handling the negotiations - really doesn't have to imply at all a holdout.

Hmmm, now the Boston Herald and Maroney's agent are saying the Boston Globe story isn't true. Anyone here from Boston know what the heck is really going on???

I heard it's false too and some Boston reporter made it up based on rumors.
