I'll expect that book report on my desk by 8:00 AM Monday morning. :-b

Just finished reading My Life in and Out of a Helmet by Jerome Bettis. It was informative, and it sheds some light on certain parts of Bettis' career, but overall it just wasn't an amazing book. Let's just say that I now know why Bettis didn't pursue a career as a writer (pushing aside the money concerns).

Currently on the second to last book of The Camulod Chronicles by Jack Whyte. If you're interested in Arthurian Legend at all, it's a great series to read. The back stories that Whyte has concocted for each main character are incredibly in-depth. A lot of adult themes, although the writing seems like it's aimed at a slightly younger audience. Still worth a read if you're interested in history though.

Anybody ever read Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child books?

The Relic and Reliquary are both great books. They made a movie out of one that was pretty cheesy but the books are interesting.

Riptide is a must read. This book is a one dayer. You can't let go and will be into it immediately. http://www.prestonchild.com/books/riptide/index.html

Thunderhead - Another great book that you will surely read if you read riptide. http://www.prestonchild.com/books/thund ... index.html

Ice Limit is another good one http://www.prestonchild.com/books/icelimit/

Then they each write alone.

Douglas Preston
The Codex - Just read this a month ago. Awesome Indiana Jones type adventure novel . http://www.prestonchild.com/solonovels/ ... index.html

Lincoln Child
Deep Storm - Just about to start this.

Another awesome author I love to read is Vince Flynn. Pick one you will love it. Mitch Rapp is basicly a walking Abu Garaib prison.

Anyone read The Hobbit or Children of Hurin? Both look pretty interesting, but Tolkien's style of writing is a bit strange and difficult to read.

started reading something called Batfishing in the Rainforest : Strange Tales of Travel and Fishing by Randy Wayne White. I'd never heard of him either. I think my Mom passed it along to me years ago and it sat shelved. It's a collection of short stories from writer's experiences. The first couple were ok so I'll give it more time. It's nice in that the topic changes every 15 or 20 minutes so it's easy to pick up and read for a bit and then put back down.

Thanks Chaoyi Shih for the sig.

I made a thread about this book a while back, but Brotherhood of Betrayal is an excellent read, especially if you believe in God or have ever been cheated on by your spouse. But even if neither of those things apply, it's still an excellent read. One of the best books I've ever read and I've read a few.
