Cafe League Preference - live or slow drafts

Postby Twisted Sister » Tue Jul 25, 2006 3:09 pm

Joined a few cafe leagues this year, and I've got to say that the live drafts are usually A LOT of fun. ;-D

However, the slow drafts seem to lag quite a bit. :-t

Personally, I'm going to avoid slow drafts from now on... I'm just wondering if I'm the only one disenfranchised with the slow drafting (snake or auction).

Slow is much better IMO. Its so hard to get everyones schedule on one day but I also like I can look at my pick a little bit longer and maybe do things like compare schedules and what not to make the absolute best pick

I much prefer Live Drafting to Slow. In a live draft you can get all your buddies together, grill some brats and burgers, drink some beer, jeer at their stupid picks right away and all around have a much better time.

Let’s face it – unless your league is full of guys who just love to trade, the most fun you’re going to have is at the draft. After the draft you’re setting lineups once a week and waiting to see who won. The draft is where all the action of the league happens.

Way better to do that live.

as far as doing a draft with people on the net (ala here at the cafe) i much prefer doing it the slow way. i hate drafting on yahoo as sometimes i want some time to look at things before making a pick. 1:30 is just fine for the early rounds but later on it's a hindrance for me.

overall i much prefer to live draft but outside of friends you live near that is something that's almost impossile to do in the internet world.

Just to clarify, I was talking about Cafe Leagues... where you would be doing it via the internet. The draft parties do not apply in that instance.

i really prefer the live drafts, but it is very hard to get everyone together, so a combo is usually done where some popele are in an msn convo while everyone else is sitting arround on couches.

the draft is y far the best part of FF. Ecept the $$ at the end (sometimes)

In my league with my buddies in stuff, definetly live and in person. Its a lot of fun. As for over the cafe, I prefer live, although it is hard to find a specific date that works for everybody.

If its just in the CAFE i like slow drafts, because i have more time to think about my picks, but i also get lost and have to re-research each time i'm up.

if its an outside league with friends..gotta go with the live draft.

I prefer live, but only because I personally am about 90%prepared by mid July every year. I'm always ready. As far as getting everyone on the same schedule for a live draft. The date should be set well in advance, most people who play every year, play with the same group of guys.
