Draft Strategy 1 of 14... after rd1

Ok basically I have draft spot 1 of 14... Pick 1 is easy

I think the hardest thing is the next few rounds...

141 and so on. I was thinking maybe RB at 28/ then WR followed by a QB, WR. Then WR, TE, WR, DEF.

There are 27 spots between my picks so I think it really puts the pressure on picking certain positions or I will get the bottom the barrell when I get my turn.. Any comments or strategies welcomed. Thanks. QB/3 WR /2 Rb /TE / K /Def

Take two WR's at 28 and 29 (assuming there are top tier WR's still available) then take RB's for the next 4 rounds or so. This year's draft is deep at QB and TE so you can wait on those positions. It just depends on what's available though since your league is so big.

Yeah, get your stud RB, then I would only grab a RB at 28/29 if Parker, KJ, or Jamal was there.

Take two stud WR with the first two, then grab some combination of Dayne, Rhodes, Benson, Brown, Gado, and Jones with your next 3 picks.

After that, just go for value.

Hear is my thinking if I would reach early (3rd pick) for QB has to be a top 5 qb. The projected value of QB minus (Projected PTS difference of WRs taken 1 rd later)

Example TBrady 197 - (Charmbers (126) - T. Houshmandzadeh (93))

So in this case Tbrady would be worth be about 160 to me ... Cost of Opportunity of other players that could have been picked instead between those rounds that Qb would normally be picked ... So in this case there are plenty of Qbs that should put 160 numbers...

This is why you don't take QB. Even though Qbs are worth alot in FF.

You need to execute mock drafts. Then execute more mock drafts. Click here to view a sample of using League Master to execute mock drafts.

I think you will find the most value at the WR position for your second and third picks.

Drew Brees, Trent Green, Byron Leftwich, Brett Farve, Kitna(maybe?).

Probably all will be available in round 9. I would jump on one of these in round 9 of a 14-teamer if I still hadn't picked a QB.

I just drafted pretty much right there and the big mistake I made was taking a TE too early, thus killing my RB depth. I went LJ, W Parker, H Ward. Make sure you get a decent backup RB. 14 team leagues are tough on the bench, and IMO your 3rd WR should come late.
But I like my strategy as aside from my bench RB depth, my team is solid.
