You guys who are asking how a team like this doesn't make the playoffs aren't looking at the bigger picture. Yeah, on paper his team rocks but sometimes when you have three studs in each of the skill positions it makes you do stupid things and sometimes you pick incorrectly.
Keep in mind:
Hasselbeck, while having a solid year, only threw for over 250 yards 3 times last year. Roethlisberger only did it twice. Marc Bulger was injured during the week 6 game which was after one of Roeth's 250+ games and two of Hasselbeck's 250+ games.
First week you start Shaun Alexander and Rudi (since LJ isn't the starter). SA gives you 73 yards and no TDs, Rudi gives you 126/1. LJ, on your bench gives you 110/2 so next week you start LJ and Rudi. LJ, gives you 41/1 and Rudi gives you 90/0 while SA gives you 144/1 on your bench...
You start Issac Bruce and Chad Johnson first week but miss Steve Smith's 138/1. The next week you keep Issac Bruce in (hoping to double-dip on the Marc Bulger TD throws as he got one the first week) and switch to Smith who has a terrible game 34/0 and miss Moss' 159/2.
Yeah, it's convoluted but it
could totally happen. Hell, everyone has done that a couple times every season. I'm sure somewhere someone made bad decisions nearly the whole season through...
