Looking for help from experienced keeper league owners...

Postby LJ_Rocks_KC » Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:32 pm

I'm the commissioner of a fantasy football league and this year we decided to make the jump to a keeper league. We are making it a 3 player keeper with the option of keeping a 4th if he's a rookie. I am looking for advice on rules of the league (do you keep a player at the cost of the round you drafted him in?). Maybe there is a thread in here that I have overlooked, but if any of you have some advice from experience it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Losing the pick 1 round off the round the keeper was picked in works good.

So you can keep your 1st round draft pick this year for your 2nd round draft pick next year and so forth?? Not sure if I understood

Set a limit of the number of players that can be kept at one positon, ie a max of two players at a given position. Plus set up a limit on the number of years in a row a player can be kept. That keeps people from dominating the league for more than 2 to 3 years and adds a bit more of a twist to draft strategy. Set whatever rules you decide on prior to the draft. Nothing can wreck peoples moods in a keeper than rule changes the next year.

The only football keeper I've done (and still do), we have use a max 3 keeper and keep them for a max of 3 years. If you keep one guy, that's your 1st round pick...if you keep two, that's your 1st & 2nd round, etc.

There are a bunch of different ways to do it. What do your league members prefer?
