I really don't like it when Defenses determine the outcome of a matchup, so i'm trying to figure out a good way to reduce them. My league is currently set to Yahoo's default settings, and it seems like way too much scoring potential. What do your guys' leagues use for defensive scoring?

Don't give (or take away) points for the Points Allowed category. My league looks like this.

sack = 2 points
interception = 3 points
defensive TD = 6 points
punt/kick return TD = 6 points
safety = 4 points
shutout = 10 points
Fumble recovery = 2 points

yeah, i was thinking about not giving any points for points allowed, but then i thought, isn't that pretty much the point to defense. But, i feel like i have to take something away, so i might just do that.

I agree with you. In reality, not allowing points is what a defense is there for. Maybe reduce the values for points allowed, but I would also reduce values for turnovers and defensive/special teams tds.

Personally, I like high defensive scoring... But, I'm somewhat biased... Anyhow, try this:

0 points (10)
2-7 points (7)
8-20 points (3)
20-27 points (0)
28-34 points (-3)
35+ points (-7)

Sack (1)
Interception (1)
Fumble recovery (1)
Defensive TD (6)
Safety (2)
Blocked Kick (2)

If you don't like when Defenses determine the outcome of the game, why don't you just not put them in the starting lineup? The only way a position won't affect the outcome of the game is if it is not involved at all.

You like defensive scoring? I'm stunned. ;-)

Yeah I would think that your Defensive scoring would be completly skewed towards the high side.
