Kickers, How should we score them?

Postby jgray960 » Fri Aug 11, 2006 10:33 pm

yahoo league standard settings at the moment

QB: 1 pt per 50 yds
6 pts per TD

RB and WR: 2 pt per 20 yds
6 pt per TD

BOTH OF THOSE SCORING SYSTEMS ARE LOCKS.

now, what we're argueing over.

Field goal kickers. how many points should they get for field goal lengths? and when should they be docked points etc...
QB: McNabb/Carr
RB: Chester Taylor, Westbrook/ Edgerrin, Tatum
WR: D. Stallworth, A. Boldin, J. Horn/Kennison, M. Clayton.
TE: D. Clark
K: Kaeding
Def: Today Philly (Defense by committee)

3 Points for all FG less than 51 Yards.
5 Points for 51+ FGs
No Penalty for Misses.

That's how we roll. ;-D

Umm with those yardage scorings, I dont think that 3 pts/ 5 pts is a good idea in your leauge. Makes kickers too valuable. Soooo maybe try this.

2pt < 50 yrds
3 pt >= 50 yrd

Just an idea.

what about penalizing for misses?

Never been much of a fan of penalizing for missed FGs. It places too much emphasis on kickers in domes or Southern climates. Missed PATs can be taxed -1.
FG pts I am kind of traditional in less than 40yds = 3 pts
40-49 = 4pts
>50 = 5 pts.

I usually keep it simple.

1pt for extra points
3pts for field goals
No penalty for missed field goals.
