If you search for "Madden curse" you'll probably see at least 5 threads dedicated to this.

Alternatively, if you search for "stupidest reason in the universe to ever not pick a fantasy player" you'll probably also find the answer you're looking for.

I should start our draft party off by going over the history of the curse. Maybe then Ill get to draft SA at 4...

I wouldn't be too worried about SA, he's probably the most consistent RB the NFL's seen in quite a while.

I find LJ more of a risk this year than Alexander and Alexander more of a risk than LT, even though neither LT or SA have missed a game in their career.

If you pass on Alexander at the 3rd spot, you should be slapped across the face with a trout.

i picked alexander number 1 overall in a league, but that's not to say i wasnt a lil worried. it's not just the madden curse, but there's also the trend that the team that loses the Super Bowl tends to miss the playoffs the next year. How can Seattle miss the playoffs? if SA's production goes down.

For the record, if anyone wants to bet even money against Seattle making the playoffs this year I'll take it. Any amount is fine to me, but we have to send the money to a third party so you don't chicken out after about week 6 when it becomes apparent they're going to win 12+ games this year.

Seriously, PM me if you want to make that bet.

You can't honestly believe there is a Madden curse. It's fun to talk about, but you can't let that dictate who you draft. I'm as superstitious as anyone, but even I took SA with the #2 pick. If anyone's capable of breaking the so called curse, it's Alexander.

Haven't done my drafts yet, but if I don't get him I'm going to Photoshop an SI cover with SA holding the Chunky Soup Can with him on the label. And then send it to whoever ended up with him.

I'm sorry. SA may be good. But the Madden curse is unstoppable.
